The project could enter service in 2024 and include Plans a 198 MWh Battery Energy Storage System.

Southern Current said it signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Dominion Energy South Carolina for its proposed $200 million, 107.8 MW Lone Star Solar project in Calhoun County, South Carolina, near Columbia.

If approved by state regulators, the project could enter service in 2024. Plans also call for a 198 MWh Battery Energy Storage System at the 572-acre facility.

energyRe acquired Southern Current, a South Carolina-based developer of large-scale solar and energy storage projects, in the third quarter of 2022 with a portfolio of more than 9 GW in development. energyRe is also working to develop Clean Path NY, an $11 billion public-private partnership to develop 3,800 MW of new wind and solar power and a 175-mile-long, underground 1,300 MW HVDC transmission line. It is also a project co-sponsor of Leading Light Wind, which has a lease in the New York Bight; the proposed project there is targeted for operations in 2030.
