2020 Empowerment Through Sports ‘ETS’ Toy Drive

By: Get News

On December 17, 2020 Empowerment Through Sports/ETS had the awesome privilege to serve our local community through gift-giving and community enrichment at a local gift-giving drive-through held at South Pointe Elementary School (SPES), in Phoenix, Arizona. In coordination and collaboration with Corey Peters of the Arizona Cardinals, National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun, Walmart Store #5186, Academy Mortgage, and Central Christian Church (Gilbert Campus); ETS was able to successfully render 571 toys to the community of South Phoenix. The primary age groups served during the drive-through event at SPES, located at 2033 E. Southern Ave in Phoenix, Arizona were children ages 5 to 12. ETS served 417 participants at SPES.

“We were additionally able to serve a marginalized segment of the South Phoenix Communities population through Quest High School.” Quest High School is located at 217 E Olympic Dr. Phoenix, AZ 85042. Quest High School serves a demographic of young people that have adult responsibilities. As an alternative High School for children and young adults ranging from ages 13 to 21, ETS was able to provide gifts to all 72 students and their children, totaling 154 toys distributed.

In addition to the 571 toys disbursed on December 17th, ETS was able to offer a bright Christmas to three individual families.

Family #1: 4 kids, 3 of which are developmentally disabled

Family #2: 8 kids

Family #3: 4 kids

ETS wants to personally take the time to thank the leadership of SPES in Mrs. Delores Jones-Bell. Mrs. Bell works tirelessly to support the children of the South Phoenix Community and we want to give her her flowers now for all of her hard work, determination, and effort. Equally acknowledged is Quest High School’s leader, Mr. Darwin Russell, as a South Phoenix native Mr. Russell wears his pride and love for South Phoenix on his sleeves. Thank you both for your tireless effort and enthusiasm for the community.

Again, ETS greatly appreciates all of the previously mentioned sponsors that enable our success of being able to fulfill a need in the community. “We pray for the continued growth of our relationship and service capability to those who are less privileged in the local communities that we serve. Last but certainly not least we thank God for giving us a heart for charity and a love for his people. I pray that this communication brings you joy, see you next year for the 8th Annual ETS Toy Drive and ‘Jingle Bell Cookout’.”
