New York City, NY – May 7, 2019 – Real Dads Network along with the Responsible Fatherhood Coalition will host events throughout the New York City tri-state area, joining hundreds of their peers across New York City to celebrate the ninth Real Dads Week from Saturday, June 8th to Sunday, June 16, 2019. The events are free and open to the public, excluding the Daddy Daughter Dance which is the annual fundraiser to support the work the Real Dads Network undertake. Registration is required for all events.
Real Dads Network and The Responsible Fatherhood Coalition expects hundreds of men, children, and women of all ages to celebrate and honor dads who are both exemplary role models and community leaders. The events will incorporate social, cultural, and intellectual activities. Women are highly encouraged to participate along with the fathers to serve as support systems.
The week of events kicks off with a Family Day Olympiad on Saturday, June 8th @ Williamsbridge Oval Park presented by Bronx Fathers Taking Action (BFTA) and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Bronx, NY;
On Tuesday, June 11th, a Celebration and Awards Ceremony hosted by Real Dads Network and Medgar Evers College; at Medgar Evers College, Brooklyn, NY;
On Thursday, June 13, Raising Strong Sons discussion and Basketball Skills Clinic presented by Fathers and Men of Professional Basketball Players Inc. at Renaissance Middle School I.S. 192 Queens, NY;
On Saturday, June 15th, at The Alhambra Ballroom 2116 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, Harlem, NY Real Dads Network presents its 10th Daddy Daughter Dance. Cost: $110 for dad & daughter, $45 for each additional child.
Also, on Saturday, June 15th, there will be a Fatherhood Fun Day hosted by the Staten Island Community Partnership at Clove Lakes Park Staten Island, NY. The week will wrap up on Sunday, June 16th with a Father’s Day Cookout hosted Fathers Alive in the Hood at Baisley Pond Park Queens, NY.
The money raised from the Daddy Daughter Dance helps Real Dads Network run the Real Dads Clubs around the city, and to support the organization throughout the year. We’ McDonald The Voice 2016 Finalist will be performing at the Daddy Daughter Dance and the daughters will be receiving a free copy of her book.
