CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - March 30, 2025 - PRLog -- Boston born comedian Matt Jarvis was crowned the 2025 March Comedy Madness Champion, cheered to victory by a jam-packed crowd at the Comedy Studio in Harvard Square Saturday night. Jarvis put on a masterclass in comedy throughout the competition, winning over the crowd and edging out his final championship opponent, the hilarious Tim Champa. For the second year in a row, a teacher has been the victor in this 19th annual event to benefit mental health.
Matt, speaking from his unique experience and resonating with the audience, gave his bold takes on today's youth, his work and life in and around Boston, and his killer Spanish language mistakes. In just two years of honing his craft, Jarvis earned his title as champion topping the tournament of 64 comedians and then donating half of his cash prize to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.
Committed to this vital cause, the comedy community and supporters, through Like2Laugh Productions, has raised funds all month for BBRF. Many are directly or indirectly affected by mental illness, and the Foundation supports groundbreaking scientific research in the field of mental health, funding studies on conditions such as addiction, ADHD, anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder, depression, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, schizophrenia, suicide prevention, and more. All the acts got big laughs and truly made for a memorable event.
"I am just excited to get this far," said Chadd Loring who made his way from the Wild Card round at the East Boston Police Station, through the Comedy Party bracket at Democracy Brewing, and on to the Elite Eight before reaching the Final Four. "This is the biggest crowd I have ever performed for."
Champa and Jarvis truly brought the heat in the Final Four advancing to the championship match. At the final buzzer, Jarvis remained the last comic standing. He humbly thanked the crowd and later noted, "This has been such a great experience."
Next Like2Laugh phenomenon, FREEZE! Stand-up with a pause button, will be the MCM wrap party edition set for Friday, April 11th, 7 p.m. at the East Boston Police Station.
