Alongside this significant honor, BIDEC INC successfully concluded its annual Black History Festival from February 22nd to 24th at the Columbus Marriott Airport, celebrating the rich heritage of the Black community and advancing socio-economic ties globally.
Celebrating Cultural Heritage and Advocacy Excellence
This year’s Black History Festival, themed "The Africa We Want in a Global Setup – Rebuilding Trans-Atlantic Trade Ties for Socio-economic and Cultural Advancement," not only celebrated Black heritage but also underscored BIDEC INC's role as a pivotal player in international advocacy. The event featured influential speakers and was attended by hundreds of delegates from around the globe, showcasing the organization's extensive network and impact.
A Platform for Dialogue and Development
The festival facilitated discussions on trade, innovation, and cultural exchange between Africa and the Americas, with notable speeches from prominent figures including Michael B. Coleman, the 52nd Mayor of Columbus, Alex Dadey, Chairman of KGL Group, Africa, Dr. Jules Dadicus, Director General of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), and Dr. Olivier Kamanzi, Chairman of the Africa Global Chamber of Commerce, Lefentse Nokaneng of Brand South Africa, and many others. These dialogues emphasized the importance of strengthening ties and collaborating across continents.
Highlighting Excellence with the Black History Makers Awards
The festival also hosted the Black History Makers Awards Gala Night, recognizing individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the global Black community. These awards highlighted the achievements in technology, arts, politics, and entrepreneurship, celebrating the enduring spirit and influence of Black excellence worldwide. Some of the recognized personalities included Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Marcus Garvey, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, Mayor Coleman and Alex Dadey.
