M1 Support Services (M1) announced today it has been selected to advance to Phase II of the U.S. Army’s Flight School Next competition. The Army is seeking a contractor-owned, contractor-operated (COCO) turn-key solution to train Initial Entry Rotary Wing (IERW) student pilots.
“M1 submitted two different proposals, both of which were advanced to Phase II,” said George Krivo, Chairman and CEO of M1. “We started developing our approach nearly two years ago, and that early start allowed us time to develop a comprehensive solution optimized to best meet Army objectives.”
Team M1 currently provides flight training and simulation as well as organizational, intermediate, and depot level maintenance for more than 500 Army and Air Force AH-64, UH-60, CH-47, UH-72, TH-1 rotary-wing aircraft dispersed across five primary airfields, flying up to 400 sorties per day and 240,000 flight hours per year, with a three shift 24/7/365 operations staff of more than 3,000 maintenance, aircrew, and support personnel.
“It is this deep program understanding that allows us to offer a seamless, low-risk transition,” said James Cassella, Chief Growth Officer of M1. “We will introduce a wide range of impactful innovations to transform Army flight training and deliver more proficient aviators at significantly reduced cost.”
M1 supports all branches of the military in managing, operating, and sustaining large scale aviation training enterprises at several Air Force and Navy installations in addition to the Army’s Fort Rucker. The scale, scope, and complexity of the Fort Rucker program are unmatched among the several large training fleets supported by M1 across the Services, making M1 unique among industry partners.
