The first-of-its-kind series gives a raw, inside look at the mental, emotional, and personal toll cybersecurity leaders face behind the scenes.
Nagomi Security, the leader in proactive defense and threat exposure management, today announced the release of “CISO: The Worst Job I Ever Wanted,” a new docuseries exploring the human cost of one of the most high-pressure roles in business today: Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
The series, launching in Fall 2025, is the first of its kind to document what it truly feels like to lead cybersecurity from the inside. Through one-on-one interviews with CISOs from companies like Mailchimp, Cisco, and Deutsche Bank, the docuseries offers an unfiltered view into the pressure, burnout, and personal toll that comes with being responsible for protecting everything.
“We always hear about the breach. We rarely hear what it’s like to be the one who has to answer for it,” said Danielle Lewan, Director of Global Marketing at Nagomi and Executive Producer of the series. “CISOs are expected to carry that weight. To stay composed, take the fall, and keep going. This series is about finally acknowledging the reality of what they face.”
The project was inspired by a closed-door roundtable Nagomi hosted at Black Hat 2024, where CISOs gathered to speak candidly — many for the first time — about the emotional impact of their role. That moment sparked a larger effort to tell these stories publicly, without spin or polish.
Produced in partnership with Hacker Valley Media, “CISO: The Worst Job I Ever Wanted” gives voice to the people behind the title. Each episode focuses on a single CISO’s story: the decisions that kept them up at night, the moments that nearly broke them, and the reasons they stayed.
“These stories aren’t comfortable. They’re real,” said Clint Howard II, Director at Hacker Valley Media. “We wanted to show the human being behind the role, and what it actually feels like to carry that responsibility every day. It’s about helping the industry evolve and giving these leaders the backing they deserve.”
The series also highlights a growing push for change. Nagomi is supporting the Professional Association of CISOs (PAC) in its work to advance industry standards and public policy including liability protections and formal support structures for cybersecurity leaders. In fact, Nagomi is standing behind the PAC to take these efforts to Capitol Hill, advocating for new protections, clearer accountability, and leadership support at the highest levels.
A first look at “CISO: The Worst Job I Ever Wanted” was shared last week during a private preview at RSA Conference 2025 in San Francisco. The exclusive event brought together only cybersecurity leaders — no sales, no marketing — for an early look at the stories beginning to be told.
The full docuseries will be released in Fall 2025 on major streaming platforms and a dedicated campaign site.
