Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation Awards $200,000 to Support Maternal Health Programs in New York

The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Elevance Health Foundation, has awarded $200,000 in grants to two New York nonprofit organizations working to improve maternal health outcomes and strengthen support systems for women and families across the state.

The funding will expand access to high-quality maternal care, perinatal mental health services, and doula support—addressing persistent disparities affecting underserved communities.

“These organizations are creating meaningful change for mothers and families in New York,” said Mark Levy, President of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New York Medicaid. “By partnering with trusted community organizations, we’re addressing disparities in maternal health, promoting whole-person care, and ensuring that every mother has the support she needs for a healthy pregnancy and beyond.”

The Child Center of New York will receive $150,000 over two years to support the Perinatal Intensive Outreach Program (P-IOP), which serves low-income women diagnosed with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs)—including postpartum depression—and their babies.

Expecting Relief will receive $50,000 for one year of support for its maternal relief program, which provides doula services to women who otherwise lack coverage for this essential support.

“These grants represent our ongoing commitment to advancing whole health and improving maternal outcomes,” Levy added. “Together, we’re helping build healthier communities and brighter futures for women and their children.”
