Michael Hughes, President at 1Password
“This is a pivotal time for 1Password as we build the leadership team that will take us through our next stage of growth,” said David Faugno, CEO of 1Password. “Michael and John have each scaled transformative companies that redefined their industries and share our belief that identity security should empower businesses, not slow them down. Their leadership will help us expand globally, deepen enterprise relationships, and capture the growing opportunity at the intersection of identity and AI.”
Michael Hughes to lead global go-to-market strategy and customer growth
At 1Password, Hughes will lead a global organization spanning global sales, customer experience, and revenue operations, driving commercial execution and growth. He will focus on strengthening customer and partner relationships, expanding 1Password’s enterprise footprint, and evolving its multi-product go-to-market strategy to build a durable foundation for long-term growth.
Hughes joins from ChargePoint, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer and helped guide the company through rapid growth and a successful public offering, building a world-class go-to-market organization and expanding its reach across enterprise and channel ecosystems. Previously at Barracuda Networks, he served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Services, where he played a pivotal role in accelerating revenue growth and expanding the company’s global partner and channel strategy.
"1Password was founded on the vision of making security seamless and accessible to everyone, and I look forward to building on that legacy as we lead the next era of identity security," said Michael Hughes, President at 1Password. “Identity is the new security perimeter, and 1Password is the leader in that space — creating the foundation that will unlock the next generation of AI-driven applications. Making that future possible starts with great teams, and my focus will be on fostering a high-performance culture that moves with purpose, collaborates with intention, and drives immense value for our customers every day.”
John Torrey to drive ecosystem growth through strategic partnerships and M&A
As Chief Business Officer, Torrey will lead corporate development, partnerships, and ecosystem strategy to drive sustainable growth. He will focus on furthering M&A opportunities, strengthening strategic and technology alliances, and expanding routes to market that extend 1Password’s reach across the identity security landscape.
In addition to his role at 1Password, Torrey is a Venture Partner at Madrona, where he invests in emerging technology companies. He previously served as Chief Ecosystem Officer at Qualtrics, where he built the company’s global partner network, executed large-scale acquisitions, and helped lead one of the largest private software transactions in history. Earlier, as Chief Corporate Development Officer at SAP, he led M&A and strategic business development, shaping SAP’s cloud growth strategy and integrating major public‑cloud acquisitions, including Concur, Ariba, and Fieldglass.
“1Password is at the center of one of the most important transformations in enterprise software, securing both human and AI identities,” said John Torrey, Chief Business Officer at 1Password. “I’m excited to help expand the ecosystem that powers this vision, deepening our partnerships and unlocking new routes to market through innovation and collaboration. Together, we’ll build on 1Password’s momentum to create an ecosystem that redefines how trust, identity, and access come together in the AI era.”
