Marquis Who's Who Honors Noreen Kale Naughton as a Top Professional

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 29, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Noreen Kale Naughton as a Top Professional. A distinguished professor emerita of art at the University of Hawaii Kapi'olani Community College, Ms. Naughton is an expert in fine art and education who has made a significant impact on the arts in Hawaii.

A Life-Altering Choice

Ms. Naughton is an artist and educator, specializing in oil and acrylic painting for nearly six decades. She has been passionate about the arts since childhood. Though her father was a scientist, he was also a talented artist with a remarkable flair. Her father opted for a career in science despite his talent in painting and drawing, and she considers him an influential role model. Like him, Ms. Naughton loved both the arts and science and had to choose between the two - unlike her father, she opted to pursue her deep-seated affinity for the arts.

Ms. Naughton is not only talented in painting, but is a gifted cellist. While an undergraduate at the University of Hawai'i, she performed with the Honolulu Symphony, now known as the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra, for three years. She earned a bachelor's degree, a master's degree in education and a master's degree in fine arts from the University of Hawai'i.

Combining Art and Education

Ms. Naughton began her career in education, teaching at the University of Hawaii Leeward Community College for seven years, followed by eight years at the University of Hawaii. She joined the University of Hawaiʻi Kapiʻolani Community College as an assistant professor of art. During her tenure, she led the study abroad tours to Italy.

"I had about eight to nine different study abroad tours to Europe, which was important to do, particularly to connect the art students of Hawai'i to great Renaissance artists in Italy," Ms. Naughton says.

Ms. Naughton made significant changes during her time as coordinator of the art advisory board at the University of Hawaii's Kapi'olani Community College. She is especially proud of the consolidation of all the art courses across the university system, which she accomplished due to her in-depth understanding of the curriculum. She also ensured that students in the art and humanities courses could transfer their credits between all the different campuses within the university system.

Ultimately retiring in 2003, Ms. Naughton was subsequently bestowed with the title of professor emerita.

A Notable Career

Although she has experienced many accomplishments throughout her long career, Ms. Naughton has several highlights that stand out to her.

"The most important things for me are receiving the Purchase Award from the Honolulu Museum of Art in 1996 and being an artist-in-residence at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park in 2016," Ms. Naughton says.

Ms. Naughton plans to further her career as an artist through connections in the art world, which include students, colleagues and other artists.

For her expertise in fine art and higher education, Marquis Who's Who honored Ms. Naughton with inclusion in Marquis Who's Who and has also been honored as a Marquis Who's Who of American Women.
