For more than three decades, Mr. Manotas has been involved in creating simple, actionable and scalable solutions and converting complex problems into simple resolutions. He is also a business development architect by training and works on product innovation and data-enabled support systems in his current position at Alca Avionics.

Mr. Manotas' passion for mathematics motivated him to learn advanced math and BASIC programming on his own when he was a teenager. This marked the beginning of his lifelong fascination with mathematics and technology, which ultimately led him to a career in the air transport industry, ultimately in avionics technology.

"One of the things I have very good knowledge of is optimizing and working from the maintenance side," Mr. Manotas says.

Mr. Manotas is working on a new concept of regional and air mobility, connecting rural and regional areas to urban ones. AeroVision is the name of the project. Several major entities, such as NASA, Georgia Institute of Technology and others, are also working on the idea, though it hasn't been developed yet.

"I'm working on building this new concept of integration as a pivot to connect the regions," he says. "I want to use the technology to connect people and give the communities a very good option to move at a very affordable price."

The Importance of Continued Learning
Mr. Manotas is also creating a platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance flight safety for general aviation pilots who own small aircraft.

Throughout his career, he has made a point of listening to those often overlooked by the technical community. He has also been supportive of other professionals, helping them develop their technical abilities and personal growth. He always strives to humanize complex technical challenges by making issues more approachable and impactful.

A Notable Career in Aviation
Mr. Manotas has received various recognitions and awards for his career accomplishments, including Recognition: Pride to Work With You from American Airlines Inc. in 1994, Employee of the Year, Aerobrokers and Magsind in 1999, 500 Top Executives in 2016, Business Leader from La Nota Economica in 2016 and Special Congressional Recognition from the U.S. House of Representatives in 2023. Mr. Manotas' future goals include addressing inequality within the air transport industry and empowering inland and rural populations that are often overlooked in favor of coastal regions. He plans to do this through economic development and entrepreneurship.
