UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 29, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Chris Wilson for his expertise in business and financial leadership, as well as for his mission to "bend the arc toward prosperity" for the African American community through retirement planning. For more than two decades as a tax practitioner, Mr. Wilson has developed models and strategies designed to help individuals retire securely and live well without fear of running out of money or losing purchasing power. He is committed to eradicating the "fixed income mentality" that has long defined retirement for many African Americans, positioning himself as a leader of financial empowerment in this space.

Mr. Wilson's Early Education and Career
Mr. Wilson's academic background set a strong foundation for his career. He earned a bachelor's degree in business and accounting from Winston-Salem State University in 1983 and prepared himself to join the workforce.
Mr. Wilson started from scratch, a reality reflected in his first professional experience. Immediately after graduating from college, he joined Ashland Oil as a computer analyst. On his first day at work, with precious little to his name, he approached human resources to ask for an advance on his first paycheck.
Reflecting on his life at the time, Mr. Wilson shared, "I used a trunk load of coke bottles to convert to cash for gas en route to my first job in Kentucky from North Carolina."
From Computer Analyst to Director
Mr. Wilson remained at Ashland Oil for three years before transitioning to Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he also worked as a computer analyst. He subsequently relocated to North Carolina and worked at GlaxoSmithKline from 1989 until 2004, during which time he rose to the level of director. While this role gave Mr. Wilson unique industry experience, he ultimately decided to seek a new opportunity as an entrepreneur.
Entrepreneur, Author and Financial Leader
In 2003, Mr. Wilson became a DBA H&R Block franchisee, operating under the name Wilson Enterprise Inc. and serving as its president. He has held concurrent roles as the president of New Freedom Enterprise LLC since 2005 and the president and chief executive officer of Calvary Management Agency since 2010. In 2011, he became chief executive officer and chair of Wilson Enterprise Inc., where he is responsible for coaching and cultivating talent while running the organization smoothly.
Central to his financial work is a retirement planning model that challenges traditional assumptions. Through Wilson Enterprise Inc. and his broader business ventures, Mr. Wilson provides strategies that prioritize sustainable income, purchasing power and financial independence, principles that align with his larger vision of prosperity for the African American community.
Beyond his professional career, Mr. Wilson is the author of "How to Make Your Nest Egg Last a Lifetime," published in 2025 through Authors On Mission. The book reached number one on Amazon's bestseller list and serves as the culmination of 23 years of dedicated work in finance.
Awards and Achievements
Mr. Wilson's career is marked by several notable achievements. In 2017, he served as chair of the H&R Block Leadership Council and supervised franchisee owners and was acknowledged as a Top 100 franchisee by H&R Block itself in 2020. Additionally, Mr. Wilson and his wife have made significant contributions to their alma mater, prompting the university to dedicate a room to them.
Plans for the Future
Looking ahead, Mr. Wilson seeks to broaden the impact of his retirement planning strategies. His goal is to be recognized as the leader who ends the "fixed income mentality" for African Americans, ensuring that retirement is not a time of financial constraint but one of continued growth and freedom. Through his lived experience and decades of practice, he continues to instill values of financial literacy, long-term security and opportunity in those around him.
