About Dr. Koppen
Dr. Koppen's career journey started in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where he graduated from Medical School at the University of Amsterdam in 1969. He followed this accomplishment with the completion of his training in ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgery in 1974 at the same location.
While working in this medical field for 13 more years, Dr. Koppen started to have concerns about the rigid structure of therapies chosen in medical specialties. E.g, he questioned how the treatment of children affected their physical well-being. An example he proposed is how restricting children's exploratory behavior might provoke them to anger, which they might not be allowed to express; which situation might be the root cause of inflammation such as tonsillitis which then could lead to a tonsillectomy, which the child would experience as yet another punishment; or other health issues might result.
A Transition to Alternative Medicine
In 1987, Dr. Koppen moved to the United States to start a new phase in his career as he then shifted completely to alternative medicine. He dedicated himself to learning energy medicine, fully embracing his new path. He could then apply a greater understanding of the spirit-mind-body connection by having completed a series of workshops with Ronald Beesley, a renowned spiritual teacher in England, which had a significant influence on his work and his perspective on healing.
Dr. Koppen's approach to helping his patients is rooted in addressing non-physical energetic influences on physical health. This understanding of how energy affects the body is combined with principles of spiritual healing. Dr. Koppen offers holistic treatment to his patients to address how their health and wellness level depends on their mental and emotional status, which is even today significantly underestimated in regular modern medicine.
The concept that the human mind shapes the physical experience is one that has been recognized for over a century, to a significant degree by Edgar Cayce, who taught that the body follows the mind.
Dr. Koppen emphasizes that this principle is the key to understanding the full breadth of a patient's malady and helps them to address the underlying cause of their health issues. He believes that by making patients aware of all the factors contributing to their illness, they can work to improve their overall well-being.
Success in Medicine
Dr. Koppen's continued success and accomplishments in treating his patients and the accolades he has received reflect that natural medicine is his true calling. He regards his work with spiritual healing through a holistic approach as his purpose in life and his mission is to share the knowledge he has gained with his field.
In the coming years, Dr. Koppen plans to dedicate a significant portion of his time to enhancing his writing so he can share more of his experiences and wisdom through the written word. Currently, Dr. Koppen still works in his holistic medical practice, helping his patients to understand and overcome the energetic causes of their physical problems and illnesses.
