Bluffton, SC - Bluffton Youth Theatre (BYT), a nonprofit transforming young lives through the power of performance, invites the community to join a unique matching fund campaign. Every dollar donated will be doubled — up to $15,000 — providing critical support for renovations and ensuring BYT continues to foster creativity, confidence, and belonging for all young performers.
At BYT, inclusion is more than a value; it’s our mission. We bring together youth performers with and without special needs to create something extraordinary. Whether they’re on stage, managing lighting and sound, or working behind the scenes, every child plays a celebrated role in our productions.
Did you know that 30–40% of our youth performers have special needs? This includes Autism, ADHD, emotional challenges, Down syndrome, anxiety, and 2E (twice exceptional: gifted with a disability). BYT integrates these young talents into every aspect of theater, creating a space where all participants shine and feel a profound sense of belonging.
“No matter their challenges — whether nonverbal, autistic, or facing severe anxiety — every child deserves to be part of something bigger,” said Cynthia Ford, who co-founded BYT with her husband Gregory in 2015. “We believe in the potential of every young person, and we’ve seen how the theater transforms lives.”
What began in the Fords’ home with just 15 children has grown into a thriving organization that touches hundreds of lives annually. Through acting classes, musicals, and creative events, BYT has inspired young performers and delighted thousands of audience members with shows described as “truly remarkable.”
Why your support matters:
This campaign will help BYT complete critical renovations to its new facility, allowing us to serve more children, rent out the space for sustainability, and continue empowering young performers. Your donation will double its impact, helping us provide a safe, inclusive environment where every child feels seen and celebrated.
Join Us in Making a Difference
This is more than theater; it’s a movement of acceptance, equality, and creativity. Your support will help us continue to nurture exceptional individuals who build confidence, cooperation, and resilience on and off the stage.
