CNOOC Limited announces oil discovery in Indonesia
(Hong Kong, July 17, 2002) - CNOOC Limited (the "Company", SEHK: 883; NYSE:
CEO) announced today that the Company had made an oil discovery, KE 40 in the
Madura Block in Indonesia.
KE 40 was discovered by Wildcat KE 40-1. Pay zones in the Kujung III Formation
flowed at 2,400 barrels of oil and 1.7 million cubic feet of gas per day on a
one inch choke.
The Company has a 25% working interest in the Block operated by Kodeco Energy
Company, Limited.
