People’s United Financial, Inc. issued a press release on July 19, 2007, announcing that its Board of Directors had authorized the company to file a notice with the Office of Thrift Supervision requesting permission to repurchase shares of its common stock during the first year following its April 16, 2007 second-step conversion.
