Item 8.01 Other Events.
On July 8, 2005, Coherent’s subsidiary Lambda Physik AG, completed the sale of its 50% joint venture interest in XTREME technologies GmbH to USHIO Inc., Tokyo, Japan. This transaction is in furtherance of Coherent’s earlier announcement to discontinue future development activities in the area of lithography and concentrate on its core industrial, scientific and OEM medical markets.
